Elective subject "Migration Law & Social Law"
Start: WS 2025/26
Coordination and administration: Univ-Prof. Dr. Anuscheh Farahat, Institute for Constitutional and Administrative Law, University of Vienna
Project partners: Dr. Kevin Fredy Hinterberger, Dr. Johannes Peyrl, Labour Market and Integration Department, Vienna Chamber of Labour
Scope: 18 ECTS
Concept:
The elective subject ‘Migration Law & Social Law’ aims to take greater account of the practical relevance of the topic of migration in legal studies at the University. It is a reaction to the fact that graduates of law studies are nowadays confronted with the issues of migration law (asylum law, family reunification, labour and educational migration) in numerous legal professions, especially in administration and administrative jurisdiction. As migration law issues and cross-border mobility regularly go hand in hand with questions of social security and economic integration, migration law is combined with social law in this elective subject. In addition to imparting and deepening specialist knowledge in the field of migration law and social law, the elective subject is also intended to impart critical academic analysis and practice-relevant knowledge in the form of the Refugee Law Clinic and in the form of simulation games.
