Welcome to the Department of Constitutional and Administrative Law

The Department of Constitutional and Administrative Law covers public law in research and teaching. Its areas of specialisation include law of government bodies, fundamental and human rights law, general administrative law, public procedural law, public business law, medical law and sustainability law. Comparative law also has a special tradition at our Institute.

In teaching, the Institute sees its main responsibility in educating students to become generalists who can rely on their sound academic knowledge and use methodological tools as required. Our graduates are able to adapt to changing requirements and can quickly navigate their way around any area of special administrative law.

The Department of Constitutional and Administrative Law looks back on a tradition of more than 150 years. Scholars of international standing, including Georg Jellinek, Edmund Bernatzik, Rudolf von Laun, Hans Nawiasky, Hans Kelsen and Adolf J. Merkl were affiliated to our Institute.
